Abstract

Regional inequality in Serbia, a problem that has deep historical roots. The area of the Republic of Serbia is characterized by very broad and diverse inter-regional differentiation. Underdeveloped areas are the limiting factor of faster economic and overall development, both of these regions, and the whole national economy.

Problems of regional imbalances require a continuous, systematic and long-term regional policy. Reducing regional disparities should be a priority in the definition and implementation of future regional policy, and the main objective of this paper is to point out possible strategic directions and principles of our regional policy.
